The highly charged issue of illegal immigration isn't just playing out on the front page or nightly news. It also has employers across the nation facing costly investigations, penalties and fines. Just last month, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced it's investigating 1,000 businesses across all 50 states. And ICE isn't the only one cracking down. Several states have passed legislation requiring employers to verify a workers eligibility using a federal database.
